“How Positive Are You” co-host Elizabeth Ely goes 10 rounds (about two hours) with Trisha Harding Morrison on her husband’s recent death at age 44. Morrison was a two-time former heavyweight boxing champion who not only had made history in the ring with his dangerous left hook, but also starred as “Tommy Gunn” in the 1990 movie Rocky V. In this Part 1 of “Requiem for a Heavyweight,” Trisha tells, for the first time, the complete story of her husband’s journey to hell and back — and to hell again — as he fought both the boxing and the AIDS establishments. Shortly before this Podcast was taped, Trisha received news of the electron microscopy results on blood taken from her husband moments before he died: “The Duke” was carrying no “particles resembling HIV.”

If you believe in AIDS “risk groups,” Lizé Oosthuizen is the kind of person this isn’t supposed to happen to: a fairly affluent, white South African woman. She received her “HIV” diagnosis in 2005 after her boyfriend, who was ill, tested “positive.” Even though her “numbers” were “good,” she immediately started taking AZT but soon quit and has not touched “anti-retrovirals” (ARVs) since. Thomas Shevory is author of the 2004 book, “Notorious HIV: The Media Spectacle of Nushawn Williams.” He gives David and Elizabeth a lot of background on the case and discusses the upcoming civil trial that could see Nushawn, whose sentence expired two years ago, locked up in a mental institution for the rest of his life. Episode 50: Onnie Mary Phuthe

Onnie Mary Phuthe is a Botswanian woman whose story began when she tried to induce an abortion in 1999 by taking the RU-486 pill. Having very little knowledge of the drug, she took multiple doses, which resulted in intestinal side effects that almost killed her. In 2001, Onnie was diagnosed HIV-positive, and was prescribed antiretroviral drugs (ARVs), which she took for eight years. In 2009, she stopped taking them, after finding more natural ways to restore her health.

Episode 48: Dr. Johnny Duncan

Dr. Johnny Duncan was given an ELISA test by the US military in 1999 that turned up as “inconclusive”. He was given a Western Blot but the results were never reported to him. However, when he showed up at a hospital with pneumonia two years later he was told he had AIDS and advised to, “make your will”. He was on and off the drugs after 2003 but as he learned more from Dr. Peter Duesberg and others he decided to quit totally in mid-2011.
